The Bead Society of Columbus Georgia
Establishing 2007 in June

My name is Paula Rosenberg, I am the owner of The Beadcage in Columbus, Georgia, and a bead artist. I have a great fascination with making, and creating art with beads. Mostly, I concentrate on wearable art. I feel there is a need and probably an interest in mid west Georgia, and eastern Alabama for a Bead Society. I travel to Atlanta every month for the Atlanta Bead Society. I will start conducting bead Society meetings at The Beadcage every 2nd Thursday of the month. Our 1st meeting will be held June 14th at 6:PM at The Beadcage classroom. My goal as the President of this Bead Society is to help you expand your creativity with beads. I have researched other Bead Societies, and seen what they have done, and how they have grown, and I want to bring that here.

Memberships will be $35.00 per year for active members. Active members will need to attend no less than 1 meeting every 3 months and participate in no less than 1 fundraiser a month. As an active member you will receive 10% off of all your purchases at The Beadcage. At the meetings we will discuss our business part of the Society. (How we can get more members how we should raise money, what do we need to do with money raised.)

Later in the month we will plan a special Bead Society class, free to active members. On that day any purchases from The Beadcage will be an additional 10% off so you will get double the discount once a month. By joining now you will be a charter member so if the dues go up yours will never increase, provided there are no gaps in your active membership.

Non-active members dues will be $30.00 per year. These supporters of The Columbus Bead Society will receive 10% off at The Beadcage, and will be the 1st to be notified on our fundraisers.

In our 1st meeting we will discuss our signature colors, and what we should do for fundraisers, and we will select which charitable events to participate in. We will be discussing the possibility of bringing national instructors in, fundraising, and other perks for bead society members. Also all the officers will be selected.

I will be teaching a stitch called the right angle weave, and I’ll show you what you can do with this stitch. We will not complete a project it will just be a technique you will learn. If you have needles size 11 or 12, and thread scissors bring them. I will be donating the beads and thread.

I will also be printing out pictures of other peoples work in other bead societies around the country. Those pictures should be things we could strive to do, and I hope you will come up with new things other bead societies will print out and show their members.
